FL08 HJO
Blue Ford Fiesta
This tatty blue Ford is yet another vehicle using Hollingdean as a free parking zone whilst its owner works in the neighbouring controlled parking area.
Every day, this blue Ford Fiesta is left as close to Fiveways as the driver can possibly manage, further adding to the congestion in what is already one of the most overcrowded parts of Hollingdean. Rather than obtaining a permit for parking closer to their workplace, the owner instead chooses to offload their vehicle into residential streets, taking up valuable space meant for those who actually live here.
Like many other commuter vehicles exploiting the lack of restrictions, FL08 HJO disappears in the evenings only to return the next morning. This makes it clear that Hollingdean is being treated as an unpaid car park rather than a residential area. This daily cycle leaves residents struggling to find parking near their homes while non-residents take up space for their own convenience.
This vehicle is yet another example of the ongoing problem of displacement parking, where commuters and workers from controlled zones use Hollingdean as an alternative to paying for parking, worsening congestion, pollution, and frustration for those who live here.
